UFC 110 is going to be the return of the Mister Pride!

Wanderlei Silva has been training to go back to the origins of his aggressiveness and blood eyes, the features that made him known as the Axe Murderer, or Mr Pride if you please. And to make it real, he started off the preparation for the upcoming fight with Michael Bisping at UFC 110 with former coach Rafael Cordeiro.


Cordeiro is the responsible for MMA at Affliction Fight Center and also manages his own academy KINGS MMA in Huntington Beach, USA. Recognized as one of the best trainers in the world, master Rafael has worked with a new generation of fighters and sharpening Silva, “the man of the adrenaline” as he says.

“I believe the years of war inside the ring made Wanderlei know all the pathway of the adrenaline. Today, we drive this ancient and efficient style for what he does better, that is being himself inside the ring, and more important, do what made him the icon of the martial arts” Cordeiro explained to InTheGuard.com.


“I believe this is going to be the return of the Mr Pride. The work has been done for this reason and nothing will change its direction. Many techniques, informations, a lot of attack and defense not only in Muay Thai, but regarding everything that can happen when mixed up. I’m very happy with this camping because we’re stressing specific workouts without forgetting his cardio. But I repeat, the priority is the technique with 100% of cardio put in the sparrings sessions, where I can active Wanderlei” added the coach.


Wanderlei Silva and Michael Bisping co-headline UFC 110, on Feb 21th, at Acer Arena, event that takes place for the first time in Sidney, Australia. The main card will be presented by heavyweight stars Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Cain Velasquez.

Wandy will never get back to his former glory unless he gets back to what works for him. Bull in a chinna shop. Too many to level coaches getting him away from the ChuteBox style has made him look like a counter puncher. When he dismantled the competion in Pride he was straight ahead far more than he is now. Sadly that straight forword stlye ends in 50/50 slug fests which are a tough way to climb the ladder to the top. he doesnt have the reach or the speed to be this new machine they have been trying to turn him into. If dances around with Bisping he will lose a decision. He has to get Bisping running from pressure and KO him to win, alla Dan Henderson.

The problem is he can't use the pride rules anymore so now he has to rely on his hands more and while he has power his technique is horrible. He throws looping arm punches with his head straight up. His poor chin can't take it.
