Fabrício Werdum revealed to TATAME.com that the rumored fight against Fedor Emelianenko will probably take place in April 16th. "The fight against Fedor is 99% confirmed to April 16th.

This news isn't much of a surprise. With Alistair Overeem seemingly content to stay out of the current heavyweight picture, there really is no other opponent under the Strikeforce banner that can even make for a competitive fight with Fedor.


Now as to where the fight (presumably to serve as the main event on Strikeforce's return to CBS) is going to take place, that issue appears to still be up in the air.



Fedor vs Werdum is by no means a dream fight, but Werdum is the #11 heavyweight in the world per the USAT/SBN Consensus MMA Rankings and his jiu jitsu skills and size represent a real threat to any human being, even Fedor. It's the kind of heaadliner that will require a very strong supporting fight to air on CBS. Not sure that Jake Shields vs Dan Henderson is that fight.
