No, I haven't seen the original. I will probably watch it just to compare the two. I haven't read the book either but apparently they changed the ending a little in this new version.

Alright so I watched the original. I'll probably catch shit for this but I gotta go with the new one.

I like the original actor who plays Blomkvist better than Craig. Craig kind of sleep walks through some of the scenes. Especially the one where he may meet his maker. He just doesn't really seem all that scared shitless as a normal person would be.

I also think the original Lisbeth is very good but man Mara's Lisbeth is just on another level. Her intensity and general do not give a fuck attitude is at an 11. The rape retaliation scenes don't even compare. At all.

So, in short, both are good but I just think Fincher's effort is a little more polished and Mara's version of Lisbeth is hands down the winner. I will say the opening of the new one is a little odd. It feels really out of place. It's like Fincher and Reznor had an agreement to put a music video in the opening credits just to showcase the immigrant song cover. It's visually stunning but weird.
